Consumers in London may need to seek post office alternatives next Friday (June 19th), after it was confirmed workers are to strike.Postal workers in London have agreed to strike next Friday (June 19th), it has been confirmed. The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has revealed that 10,000 members of staff are to take industrial action due to Royal Mail's planned cuts, which may lead many to seek post office alternatives.Dave Ward, CWU deputy general secretary, said the postal company "is blocking modernisation" by not establishing a dialogue with the union. He added: "Postal workers deliver a first class service but the current cuts and attitude of management threatens that and worsens services. Royal Mail can avert this strike action by pulling back from arbitrary cuts and negotiating modernisation with the CWU."The Watford Observer recently claimed that postal workers there are also planning to strike. It is believed they have agreed industrial action over the suspension of a union representative who is yet to face any formal charges.Article Added: 12/06/2009 16:06:58
