Locals 'will not get good parcel delivery services'

MP believes customers will sufferBishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman hits out at Post Office plans.

Residents in Teesdale will not have access to adequate parcel delivery services following the closure of one Post Office and a change in operating hours at another.

Bishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman claims that the closure of the Bowes office and proposals to replace the other in Byers Green will be inconvenient for many, although they could use Post Office alternatives for their parcel delivery needs.

Royal Mail bosses plan to introduce a mobile service at Byers Green Village Hall, which will operate for just one hour a week, something which Ms Goodman believes is inadequate for those wishing to send parcels in the UK and abroad.

"It is clear to me that local residents will not find this service adequate and that many will remain unable to use a local Post Office … these proposals are quite unacceptable," she said.

Wealden MP Charles Hendry recently told thisissussex.co.uk that the relocation of the Post Office in Crowborough will be inconvenient for many with parcel delivery needs.
