Generous Isle of Man residents send parcels via international delivery to an orphanage in Sri Lanka.Residents on the Isle of Man have used international parcel delivery providers to send donations over to Sri Lanka, it has been reported. As part of a charity project devised by Isle of Man resident Lee Bridge and his wife Janet, locals sent parcels of clothes from the island to the Princess Grace orphanage in the country.Mr Bridge and his wife both visited the orphanage last year and were moved enough by the plight of the youngsters to turn to sending parcels to help out.According to local news source the Isle of Man Newsroom, the orphanage is home to more than 65 children, with some just newborns.Speaking to the source, Mr Bridge said: "It was clear that toys, teddies and books were an unaffordable luxury. The Princess Grace is a Christian orphanage and relies on the goodwill of people."Meanwhile, a charity in Leeds - Support Our Soldiers - recently held a ball to raise funds to carry on sending parcels out to serving soldiers in Afghanistan, reported the Yorkshire Evening Post.Posted by Mark MooreArticle Added: 07/04/2010 09:28:04
