Buying items online is easier and, in many cases, cheaper than visiting a high street store.

Online retail has numerous benefits for consumers, not least the money that they can save, it has been claimed.

Paul Ridden, from Gizmag, says that being able to buy goods via the internet can open up a whole new world to shoppers, with another advantage being that there is no need to deal with sales personnel, who can sometimes make shopping a frustrating experience.

As well as the many benefits for consumers, businesses can also reap the rewards through increased turnover, which can then be passed on to buyers.

"Internet shopping is a true marvel of the modern age … its popularity with consumers lies in the vast amount of information and goods available at their fingertips and the potentially huge savings that can be made," Mr Ridden states.

He added that retailers can also save money by arranging for items to be sent direct from the manufacturer, possibly requiring the use of parcel delivery services.

Meanwhile, comparison site Kelkoo has claimed that those who use online retail could be missing out on £123 a year each by not using cashback websites.
