Resident recently received mail seven years late.A furious Colchester resident has hit out after receiving mail that was sent seven years ago, with many others in the region likely to receive old letters and parcels in the coming days and weeks.Dave Smith recently received a letter from Royal Mail along with a card which was sent back in 2003, the Daily Gazette reported, which could encourage others to use alternative parcel delivery services in the future.He told the newspaper that the card was sent by his mother to his son who was living at the house at the time and had spent some time in hospital."There was a letter from Royal Mail apologising and saying it had been delayed as a result of theft, which had recently been discovered," Mr Smith added.Edinburgh Sheriff Court recently heard how 23-year-old postman Ross Henderson left more than 1,600 letters and parcels at his home in Edinburgh because he could not keep up with the volume of mail he was asked to deliver.Posted by Rob ElliottArticle Added: 01/02/2010 09:34:00
