A post office in Hull is set to close its doors this October after a three-year search to find a buyer for the building.Sutton Post Office's subpostmaster Keith Vickers is retiring on October 30th and has been unable to find anyone to replace him, meaning the shop will be closed until a replacement service is established, reports the Hull Daily Mail.Mr Vickers and his wife have even used the local newspaper to appeal for buyers and people are now being encouraged to apply for the role of subpostmaster for Sutton, although they will have to provide a suitable location for a post office.Angela Bettison, field change adviser for the Post Office Limited, told the news provider: "We apologise for the inconvenience this temporary closure will undoubtedly cause but I can assure our customers that we are doing all we can to restore a service in Sutton on Hull as soon as possible."Earlier this week, it was reported that post office services in the Gloucestershire village of Barnwood were under threat after its post office closed last week.ThisisGloucestershire.co.uk reports that no new site for the service has been found and post office bosses are calling for anyone who would like to run a branch to come forward.Written by Tom SandsArticle Added: 04/09/2009 09:31:25
