The Post Office in the Spa Shop will close unless someone picks up the franchise.
Residents in Hessle may have to use the services of alternative parcel delivery providers, as the local Post Office is set to close, it has been reported.
The current operators of the site, in the Spa Shop in The Square, do not plan to renew the franchise, which would leave locals without postal services, according to the Hull Daily Mail.
Bob Tress, East Riding ward councillor in the area, said the closure of the Post Office would mean little postal provision for those who live in Hessle, although this could be solved by using Post Office alternatives such as Parcel2Go.com.
"People go to the Post Office for everything from pensions, taxing cars to sending parcels. There are around 14,500 people in Hessle so it is a busy town which needs a Post Office in the centre," he told the newspaper.
The Saffron Walden Reporter recently revealed that locals in the area are to be left without a Post Office after the resignation of the sub-postmaster at the Audley End outlet.
