A post office in the Outer Hebrides is to be close temporarily from the end of this month.Parcel delivery services on the Outer Hebrides could be affected by the temporary closure of a post office in the region, it has been revealed.The branch at Amhuinnsuidhe is to be closed from September 21st, after it was announced that the subpostmaster has resigned from the position.According to the Stornaway Gazette, efforts are being made to ensure the service is up and running as soon as possible.Kenny Lamont, the field change advisor for Post Office, said the body had "not other option"."The provision of a post office service to our customers in the local community is of paramount importance and we continue to work hard to restore service in the area as soon as possible," he added.Last week, the Federation of Small Businesses announced proposals which would see post offices transformed into hubs where companies get advice on issues including deliveries, insurance and government services.Written by Tom SandsArticle Added: 09/09/2009 15:22:19
