Twitter is still relevant to brands who want to know what people think about them and for reaching out to supporters, an expert believes
Twitter may be dwindling in popularity thanks to stiff competition from more function-rich competitors such as Facebook, but some social media experts have emphasised that it remains an important channel.
International package delivery firms using social networking strategies might find Twitter offers a clearer way to discover what customers are saying and get inspiration, it has been suggested.
Speaking to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Teresa Siles of public relations firm Nuffer, Smith, Tucker said: "By listening to the dialogue on Twitter, a company can monitor for mentions of a particular brand and provide resolutions to any issues they see."
In a similar way, businesses can take advantage of the social network to find their biggest fans and reach out to them directly, she went on to say.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone recently told the newspaper that the micro-blogging website now boasts 160 million users, although Facebook more famously passed the 500 million mark in July.
