Gowalla has rolled out its new design.

People using parcel delivery and courier services have been told the new version of the Gowalla social media app is to allow users to share check-ins.

Anyone with the Gowalla iPhone app version 3 will be able to check in using Twitter, Facebook Places, Foursquare and Tumblr accounts as well.

Among the features of the service, people can leave a note for friends in a certain location that they can then read when they are next there and log in to their account.

"Of course, one of the things we hear often from our community is how much they love the Gowalla experience ... but they want to keep up with their friends on Foursquare and Facebook Places as well," explained Gowalla's Josh Williams.

Recently, the company launched its Gifts on the Go feature, a holiday present-buying guide.

Each day until Christmas Day, the company is hiding items around the globe in certain places that lucky Gowalla users will be able to find.
