Gloucestershire postal service 'under fire'

Postal services in the Wotton-under-Edge area have been criticised, according to reportsResidents in a Gloucestershire town have claimed their postal services have got worse since a recent merger.

The decision to merge two sorting offices in Gloucestershire has been blamed for a drop in the level of service offered by the Royal Mail, according to reports.

It has been claimed that residents in Wotton-under-Edge have suffered with late deliveries since the local depot was merged with one in nearby Cam.

According to the Gazette, people may have also been encouraged to consider post office alternatives as some letters have been delivered to the wrong addresses.

Mark Spencer, a union representative for Wotton staff, told the newspaper: "Royal Mail is bullying us into rushing around and they are telling us we are working too slow.

"I feel that although we have lost the sorting office we shouldn't lose the service we once had."

The Communication Workers Union recently confirmed that Royal Mail staff in London are to strike this week over the government's plans to part-privatise the organisation.ADNFCR-2348-ID-19219160-ADNFCR
