A post office in Gloucestershire could close if officials fail to find anyone who would like to run the branch.

The residents of a Gloucestershire village may be forced to seek post office alternatives as a branch in the area is looking to close.

Officials are looking for anyone who would like to run the Barnwood branch, as their efforts to find a new location for the service have failed.

According to the ThisisGloucestershire.co.uk, the site – which was meant to close six months ago but was saved by a campaign – stopped running services around a week ago.

Phil McLellan, a local councillor, said: "I know that two sites were being investigated, but one of those sites pulled out.

"Even if a new site is found now, it takes some time to get everything up together so it will still be a while before Barnwood gets a post office back."

Postal services across the UK could be affected by industrial action taking place this week.
