Gisburn Post Office has shut temporarily due to operational problems.Residents in the Clitheroe village of Gisburn will need to use Post Office alternatives for their parcel delivery needs for the foreseeable future after the local branch closed its doors. The outlet has shut temporarily, the Clitheroe Advertiser reported, with customers greeted by a sign in the window saying unforeseen circumstances mean no services can be offered for the time being.A Post Office spokesman blamed "operational" problems for the closure, with field change adviser Andy Wright telling the newspaper that bosses are working hard to get things back on track."We apologise for the inconvenience this temporary closure is causing, but I can assure our customers we are doing all we can to restore a service as soon as possible," he said.Ponteland councillor Richard Dodd recently claimed that outreach services, which have replaced traditional Post Offices in some areas, have failed to produce the standards people expect, the Morpeth Herald reported.Posted by Laura RathboneArticle Added: 22/02/2010 09:18:52
