Game's preliminary trading results show the retailer saw an 85 per cent increase in online sales compared to last year.High street retailer Game has announced a large increase in online sales year-on-year.The video games giant has launched its preliminary results for the year to the end of January 2009, with the figures showing an 85 per cent increase in online sales compared to 12 months ago.Game's total online profitability was found to have increased by 109 per cent, which will have resulted in an increased amount of parcel delivery needed to fulfil all the additional orders.Overall sales for the group were up 32.2 per cent and figures were the highest in Game's history.Peter Lewis, chairman of Game, described the results as "exceptional".He added: "Current trading performance is ahead of our expectations and this is particularly pleasing when set against the double digit growth achieved last year."Online retailer Amazon recently announced its sales of media products increased by seven per cent year-on-year during the first quarter of 2009.Sales of electronic equipment and other items increased b y 38 per cent over the period.Article Added: 28/04/2009 09:38:09
