Time spent with friends and family is the most wanted thing this Christmas.

Far from wanting all the latest gadgets and toys, it seems that the thing most people want this Christmas is to spent time with family and friends.

A new online tool that tracks status updates and posts on Facebook and Twitter has found the key trends of what people are looking for this Christmas.

The system, from social media agency Yomego, has a live feed from anyone who mentions what they would like for Christmas.

Top of the list so far is "people", followed by "other" and "hobbies", though there still seems plenty of desire for parcel and courier services to deliver gadgets, toys and clothes.

"People want everything from iPads to a divorce," Steve Richards, head of the social media agency behind it, told the BBC.

He explained that assembling the code to track the messages took around a week, with the trickiest part being to avoid spam.

Yomego recently published a report on how social media can "revolutionise" customer service for companies.
