Fresh postal strikes threaten Christmas post

Workers could strike againCWU letter says that ballots are still active and strikes could occur unless Royal Mail bosses demonstrate a change in attitude.

Christmas mail could be thrown into chaos after unions threatened to stage fresh strike action, it has been reported.

A letter sent to members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU), seen by the Daily Mail, warns that further industrial action is possible unless Royal Mail bosses demonstrate a willingness to change.

The document highlights that the ballots are still active, meaning that members of the public may need to use alternative parcel delivery providers should the current peace agreement fall through.

In the letter, the CWU warns that workers will down tools once again unless there is 'sufficient evidence of a change in management's attitude, local agreements being reached and significant progress towards a full and final agreement'.

According to the recent Interactive Media in Retail Group Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, the strike action in October saw online retail spend slow in the final two weeks of the month, with consumers worried about how their parcels would be delivered.
