Online retailers should use a reputable firm to deliver packages. The temptation for online retailers to use the cheapest parcel delivery providers around must be avoided, as a poor service from these companies will reflect badly on them, it has been claimed.Graham Charlton, writing for Econsultancy, said that businesses will want to save money wherever they can but scrimping on the parcel delivery needs of their customers will come back to haunt them."Saving money here may be tempting, but delivering the right level of service is more important in the long run," he states.Another recommendation Mr Charlton makes is offering consumers special delivery instructions where they can specify where they want the parcel delivered to should they be out.Online retail firms could also offer to deliver packages to people's work addresses."This ensures that someone will be there to accept the delivery and avoids the risk of leaving it outside," he adds.Sandra Patterson, managing director at Boxby, recently wrote on Realbusiness.co.uk that private courier services can offer a more personal service than Royal Mail.Written by Laura RathboneArticle Added: 25/11/2009 16:20:21
