Around four million letters and parcels have not arrived on time due to recent postal strikes, according to new figures.Postal strikes being held across the UK could lead many consumers to seek post office alternatives, new figures have revealed.Royal Mail has claimed that it is meeting targets in terms of the delivery of post across the UK, despite industrial action impacting on services in the recent months.However, it is still estimated that around four million items are not reaching their destination on time, which may lead many to use parcel delivery alternatives.Paul Tolhurst, operations director at Royal Mail, said the company was committed to doing "everything possible" to counter the effects of the strikes.He also urged the Communication Workers Union to stop its members from undertaking such action.Postal workers began a fresh wave of strikes at the end of last week, while further action will continue throughout this week.Article Added: 10/08/2009 09:33:42
