FedEx 'resuming intercontinental flights'

FedEx 'resuming intercontinental flights'FedEx Express has resumed some of its intercontinental flight operations after planes were grounded due to volcanic ash from Iceland.

FedEx Express has announced that it has resumed its intercontinental flight operations after being grounded following the volcanic eruption in Iceland last week.

In a statement released today (April 20th), the firm pledged to prioritise shipments based on a "first in, first out" basis, but cautioned that consumers should still expect some delays until a full service returns.

FedEx also advised anyone planning to ship a parcel containing perishable items or anything requiring controlled temperatures overseas to wait until it is able to run a full flight schedule.

Those who are using FedEx delivery services to ship parcels and packages in Europe can benefit from the firm's continental trucking network, which is operating as normal.

All flights in and out of the UK were grounded following the eruption of the volcano on April 14th, but some airports are offering a limited service today. The BBC reports that flights departing from Frankfurt and Amsterdam took off this morning, while British Airways intends to run some long-haul flights out of the UK this evening.
