Users are joining Facebook, just not so quickly in the US.

Parcel delivery and courier services using Facebook as part of a social media marketing campaign could find that Asia is one of the fastest growing markets.

This is because the number of people using Facebook is appreciably slowing in the West, particularly in the US, where it is felt that the social network site is reaching saturation levels.

Slow growth in developed countries was noted at the tail end of last year, with just five per cent of new Facebook users in the US, according to analysts.

This trend, also seen in Denmark and Sweden, contrasts with the rapid increase in users in India, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Socialbakers, one of the analytics firms that has reported the slowdown in US growth, revealed that the total number of Facebook users has topped the 600 million mark.

Inside Facebook Gold, meanwhile, reported in November that Indonesia had finally eclipsed the UK as the second-largest Facebook market.
