Social network site Facebook is teaming up with search engine Bing.

Searching online for an international parcel delivery is about to become a more social affair, as two giants of the Web team up to take on Google.

Facebook and Bing have agreed a partnership that will bring the recommendations of friends brought to online search.

Basically, if someone is searching for a film they want to see that has been out for a couple of weeks, then when they type in the name of the film, not only will all the usual PR and critical stuff appear, but also faces of friends who have liked the movie.

Announcing the move on the Facebook Blog, Bret Taylor from the social network site said the search tool will also provide a more tailored approach when trying to find a person, pushing people who are friends or friends of friends to the top of the results page.

The project is to be rolled out in the US over the coming weeks, he added.
