eBay has welcomed a resolution that should protect small internet firms.Small internet firms that rely on sending out a parcel delivery should welcome the new resolution from congressman Paul Hodes. eBay has already said it supports a resolution put forward by congressman Hodes to protect online retailers from an increased tax burden. Recently there has been a groundswell of opinion in Washington about what many lawmakers see as unfair - the fact that eBay sellers do not have to pay sales tax in individual states. The Main Street Fairness Act intends to rectify this situation by making it easier for states to levy sales tax, potentially leading to billions of dollars extra finding its way to state coffers. However, congressman Hodes has put forward a resolution to protect those that would be affected by the bill. eBay's vice president for government relations and deputy general counsel Tod Cohen said: "We applaud Congressman Hodes for his commitment to protecting the hundreds of thousands of small online retailers and entrepreneurs. "This resolution is just part of the widespread, bipartisan opposition against new burdensome and unfair tax regimes on small online businesses."Article Added: 30/07/2010 10:06:51
