According to figures released by the company, transactions for over 960 million items have taken place on the site since its launch in 1999, with the first product ever sold being a three-track CD by The Scorpions. Up to 123,000 British businesses now trade on eBay, which suggests that the number of parcel deliveries taking place through the site is in no danger of dropping.Mark Lewis, managing director of eBay in the UK, said the site has "come a long way" in the past decade. He added: "eBay.co.uk is still the favourite platform for British shoppers looking for great value and unrivalled choice, to earn some extra money on the side or to make their entrepreneurial dreams come true."
