eBay is giving away thousands of eco-friendly packaging solutions for parcel delivery.
eBay sellers have been given a hand going green with their parcel deliveries, after the auction website announced that it will give away 100,000 recycled, multiple-use boxes absolutely free.
The boxes, which are made of 100 per cent Forest Stewardship Council-approved materials and water-based inks, won the grand prize at eBay's annual Innovation Expo this year.
eBay hopes sellers will reuse their boxes, reducing waste while also encouraging buyers to become sellers and make a few parcel deliveries themselves.
Through TheBox.eBay.com, sellers will also be able to track the journeys of their boxes and contact the people who have used them. Once the pilot scheme finishes after its launch in October, the auction site will decide where to go next with it.
Last month, eBay launched a Shopping Basket beta test on its UK website, allowing customers to try the new feature which allows them to track their pending purchases before they pay.
