EBay selling: Advice on wholesale dealing

Building relationships with suppliers is a good step to getting better prices.EBay sellers who want to buy in bulk have been given a few hints on getting the most for their money.

Reselling wholesale items on eBay is not necessarily a ticket to success, according to one blogger, who advised sellers that there are a few myths about wholesale dealing they should be aware of.

EBayer Mark Kenny said buyers can save money by purchasing items wholesale, but it is likely to be between five and 35 per cent below the retail cost instead of 50 per cent as is commonly believed.

When seeking new suppliers, the blogger advised emailing them to see if they will accept smaller minimum orders than stated, as many are happy to be flexible with their rules for new sellers.

Additionally, sellers should visit trade shows to meet suppliers and build relationships with them, as well as gaining access to hot new products.

When the time comes to put goods on eBay, Susan Ward's About.com guide recommends using "professional quality" photographs for items as this encourages people to bid.
