eBay is integrating sustainability in businesses.eBay may be looking for parcel delivery firms that treat sustainability issues seriously, after it was announced that the firm intends to integrate sustainability throughout its businesses. Announcing the new "top-down" approach that will see eBay take an active role with sustainability, the firm's director of global citizenship Robert Chatwani said the firm is identifying areas that will "drive toward increasing global prosperity". "Sustainability and innovation tied to social impact are core parts of eBay," he explained. "At eBay, citizenship and sustainability serve as sources of innovation and drive business value, thus allowing us to generate impact that is both lasting and scalable." Mr Chatwani explained that the plan is to bring programmes such as eBay Green Team, eBay Giving Works, the eBay Foundation and World of Good more closely into the daily workings and experience of both eBay and PayPal customers and employees. The news come as parcel delivery firms such as DHL are beginning to focus more on sustainability issues. DHL has recently undertaken to create a $3 million (£2 million) Sustainable Supply Chain in Singapore. Posted by Laura Rathbone Article Added: 28/07/2010 15:44:41
