eBay Fashion will provide and enhanced shopping experience.

The world's largest online marketplace eBay has launched a new fashion section.

Called eBay Fashion, the online retail portal will provide an enhanced shopping experience where consumers can purchase clothes, shoes, accessories and more.

The website boasts several new functionalities including giving shoppers the option to browse more than 19 million daily listings and new image similarity technology which allows customers to choose an item and explore similar pieces.

Consumers will also find hints and tips from top fashion insiders and stylists to help them make the right purchases.

Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay Marketplaces, said that the new section will make shopping for clothes online an easier and more pleasurable experience.

"eBay Fashion delivers a visually rich and easy-to-navigate shopping experience for savvy style seekers and bargain hunters alike, making it simple to browse and buy from the world's largest online selection of new, used and vintage clothing," she added.

Online solutions firm Advansys recently suggested that ecommerce firms use eBay's application programming interface to take advantage of the website's selling tools and maximise sales revenue from them.
