eBay is launching a new buying app for iPhones with barcode scanning technology.eBay company Half.com is launching a new app to make it easier to compare deals before ordering a parcel delivery. The app will work with Apple's iPhone and will include a barcode scanner that allows users to compare prices from a range of sources no matter where they are. Half.com specialises in items for young people, especially textbooks, and the launch is timed to coincide with the back-to-school buying season. The site is an offshoot of eBay and users of the app will have access to over 80 million listings from more than 700,000 sellers. In addition, the free app also comes with a Buying Wizard that will search for the best deal based on buying criteria and any shipping discounts. "The app’s Speedy Checkout reduces the friction of commerce, allowing users to buy with only a few quick clicks," added eBay vice president Steve Yankovich. Equinux recently launched an updated version of its iSale app, the Express version, which allows casual sellers quicker access to accounts and auctions on eBay's main site.
