eBay expands rewards programme

eBay expands rewards programmeeBay is expanding a rewards programme to cover the entire US.

eBay is rolling out a rewards programme to all its US users who order a parcel delivery, it has been reported.

The eBay Bucks programme will see buyers of certain approved items receive a two per cent reward that can then be used to buy more goods from the online marketplace, according to an Associated Press (AP) report.

Buyers receive their rewards through a gift certificate at the end of each quarter that has to be spent within 30 days using eBay's payment partner PayPal.

eBay Bucks senior manager Marc Steffans told AP that the success of a beta trial had convinced eBay that the scheme was worth rolling out nationwide.

The decision comes after the firm launched a shopping basket function on its eBay.co.uk to improve shoppers' ability to view and compare items before buying.

One of the benefits of the shopping basket is that buyers ordering parcel deliveries from many different sources and even from different countries can pay in one transaction, providing all the sellers accept the same payment method.
