eBay and Skype are making a difference to soldiers serving in Afghanistan.eBay and Skype "definitely" make a difference to the lives of soldiers serving in Afghanistan, it has been claimed. The troops, who no doubt love to receive a parcel delivery from their families, are keen on using both the online auction site and the internet telephone service, according to eBay senior director Patrick Firouzian. He went to the country to spend some time with US servicemen to see what life in the war-torn country is like for the men and women who have to go there."After dinner, I entered the internet tent and saw dozens of desks with computers equipped with webcams and headsets. The soldiers were Skyping their loved ones," he said.Meanwhile, some soldiers reported a real interest in eBay, with one serviceman bidding for a cradle for his baby on the site while talking to his wife on Skype at the same time.Recently, communities in both the US and the UK have been involved in collecting socks to send via parcel delivery to the troops on the frontline.Posted by Rob ElliotArticle Added: 05/08/2010 17:59:26
