The public need daily servicesMP Alistair Carmichael says a daily service must be maintained.

Orkney and Shetland MP Alistair Carmichael has claimed it is crucial that daily parcel delivery services remain in the area.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Carmichael warned that the increasing number of licences issued for door-to-door delivery could see people in more isolated area suffer from inconsistent mail services.

He told the house during Business, Innovation and Skills Questions that it is imperative action is taken to safeguard parcel delivery services in rural areas.
