CWU may seek an injunction to stop Royal Mail using temp workers. <br/>The Communication Workers Union (CWU) is considering mounting legal action against Royal Mail over its decision to hire 30,000 temporary workers to help deal with mail backlogs.Union bosses claim the use of short-term staff is in breach of employment laws and are currently discussing the situation with legal experts, which could mean consumers may have to use alternative parcel delivery services such as those offered by Parcel2Go.com in the future to ensure their parcels get where they need to be.A senior CWU source told the Daily Mirror that all the union has to do is satisfy a judge that there is a case to answer and Royal Mail will be forced to abandon plans to hire any more temporary workers."We want an injunction to stop them recruiting any more temporary workers and to send home the ones they've already hired," the insider said.Meanwhile, Royal Mail claims that the strikes, which took place on Thursday and Friday last week, lead to a backlog of 30 million letters.Written by Tom SandsArticle Added: 27/10/2009 16:56:45
