Customer hits out at the Royal Mail for wasting money.

A member of the public has accused Royal Mail of wasting money after the company sent him a Christmas card.

Ted Page, a retired probation services officer from Weymouth, told the Dorset Echo it is strange how a company that has been troubled by industrial disputes due to pay and cost-cutting plans can afford to send cards to people.

He also questioned the need to send it, as the information contained inside can be easily accessed elsewhere for free.

"For an organisation that is in the throes of having strikes because of staffing and cost cutting, it seems strange that they're sending out these cards to thousands, if not millions, of their customers," Mr Page told the newspaper.

He is not the only person to have hit out at Royal Mail recently, with the Times' personal finance editor Andrew Ellison criticising its inability to deliver a letter via Special Delivery after guaranteeing to do so.
