Post Office staff from Cockermouth have been recognised for staying open during the devastating Cumbrian floods of November last year.Post Office staff at a local Cockermouth branch have won an award for their outstanding work ethic in adverse conditions. The Cumbrian Post Office on Station Street stayed open during last year's terrible floods in November, closing only when mountain rescue teams arrived in dinghies to take them away, reports the Times and Star. Speaking to the newspaper, the branch's operations manager Anne Clarke underlined the commitment of her staff, who "went beyond the call of duty". Welcoming the receipt of the Post Office Best of the Best award, she added: "We are extremely proud of them all and they thoroughly deserve this award for their outstanding dedication to serving the local community." This award is likely to have enhanced the organisation's brand, which the Royal Mail Group has been keen to highlight recently. The Post Office is set to launch a new advertising campaign to highlight its role as the hub of local communities. Launching on July 4th, the multichannel campaign will be rolled out across TV, direct mail, online and in-branch. Posted by Laura RathboneArticle Added: 28/06/2010 16:58:13
