Consumers 'to continue spending online'

People are set to continue spending onlineNew research has revealed internet shoppers are set to continue spending online in the near future.

Consumers are not planning to stop buying products from online retailers anytime soon, new research has suggested.

According to figures from Performics, 60 per cent of respondents plan to spend the same or more online in the next 60 days than they did at this time 12 months ago.

The study, which could be a welcome boost to those involved in parcel delivery services, also revealed that two-thirds of customers claim this is because spending on household items remain necessary despite the downturn.

Nick Beil, chief executive officer of Performics, said: "Consumers still seem willing to spend money online, especially when offered incentives through coupons and other online discounts.

"These findings suggest marketers must implement actionable strategies that more effectively reach cost-conscious consumers to generate sales throughout the recession."

Recent figures released by Nielsen found that online auction site eBay is one of the most visited websites in the UK.ADNFCR-2348-ID-19171006-ADNFCR
