New figures have shown that online retail sales increased during March.Online retail growth during March has been pushed by strong performances from the clothing, footwear and accessories sectors, according to a new study.Figures from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index found there was a nine per cent month-on-month growth recorded for online sales during March, which in turn could have resulted in an increase in delivery services to fulfil orders.The overall sales were also up 19 per cent compared to the figures for the same month during 2008.Clothing, footwear and accessories all experienced strong growth during the month, with combined sales increases of 28 per cent compared to February and 26 per cent year-on-year.Mike Petevinos, head of consulting for retail for Capgemini UK, said: "Retailers that have developed their online offering have been able to reap the benefits of growing trade online and have also increased their influence over high street trading, as consumers turn to the internet to support their purchase decisions."Javelin Strategy & Research has projected that consumer spending online will increase by eight per cent during the second quarter of 2009.Article Added: 22/04/2009 16:19:31
