Christmas parcels dumped by postman

Royal Mail has apologisedA postman abandons mail and after resigning.

Royal Mail has apologised to people in Bristol after a postman abandoned a car full of Christmas cards and parcels after resigning, it has been reported.

According to the Bristol Evening Post, the former employee left a Ford Focus in the Hanham area from December 22nd until yesterday after telling local residents he had locked himself out and was waiting for the RAC to open the vehicle.

A Royal Mail spokesman told the newspaper that all attempts were made to gain access to the car but these were not successful.

"We continue to liaise with the police on how the mail can be retrieved and delivered to customers as soon as possible. We would like to apologise to customers for the delay to this mail," the representative said.

An investigation by the News of the World found that 25 Royal Mail staff were recently relieved of their duties after stealing from parcels.
