Christmas customers 'stranded in post office queues'

SnowUK customers were forced to endure long queues in cold winter weather this Christmas following the closure of post office branches earlier in the year.

The Christmas rush saw customers enduring queues in cold weather outside post offices across the country, it has been revealed.

This year's festive season was the first busy holiday period since many smaller branches were closed earlier in the year.

According to the Hornsey and Crouch End Journal, this was the case for the post office in Topsfield Parade, which struggled with an increase in customers following the closure of branches in nearby Weston Park and Ferme Park Road.

Paul Soper, of Inderwick Road, who assisted campaigns to save the two branches, told the news provider: "I try to avoid the post office because you face a pretty long wait.

"They are always busy at this time and they have shot themselves in the foot by closing the other branches."

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Royal Mail paid more than £1 million each month last year to reimburse customers whose parcels were lost, damaged or stolen.
