A painting by a chicken is up for sale on eBay.

One lucky eBay bidder will be receiving a unique parcel delivery containing a painting by a chicken, after an abstract piece has been put up for auction to raise money for charity.

The piece, Feathered Fireworks, was accomplished by Simon, a misleadingly-named hen with a talent for dipping her feet in different coloured paints.

According her owners, this is not the first project Simon has worked on because of her amiable temperament.

"I whispered soothing encouragement to her while we dipped her feet into paint, worked on the canvas, and then quickly washed the paint off with detergent and dried her feet afterward," explained her owner.

All the proceeds from the auction are to be donated to the New Kids Kove Rebuild project in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

eBay users have raised over $200 million (£128.8 million) for charity as part of the Giving Works programme where buyers can decide if they want to add some money on to a purchase that will be donated to a good cause.
