Shoppers keen to get their hands on the latest must-have fashion items or gadgets may find that using parcel delivery services and shopping online allows them to save cash.

According to financial site lovemoney.com, shopping online is usually cheaper than heading out onto the high street - but people need to make sure they shop around to get the best deal for their purchases.

Ed Bowsher, head of consumer finances at the website, said: "If you just visit one website, then you probably won't get the lowest price."

Using price comparison sites such as Pricerunner, Shopzilla or Kelkoo can help parcel delivery customers bag the best deal but Mr Bowsher urged shoppers to remember that prices can change quickly online.

Another place good for online bargains is internet auction site eBay, which can allow savvy shoppers to get designer bags and other usually pricey items at way below store value.
