Customers are satisfied with the service they receive from their mail providers.
The majority of firms which spend more than £5,000 a year on mailing are happy with the services from alternative parcel delivery providers such as DHL and Fed Ex, new research has found.
According to a survey of businesses by ORC International, on behalf of Postcomm, alternative parcel delivery providers scored an average rating of 7.6 out of ten, with Royal Mail averaging 7.4.
When the same companies were asked whether they would recommend carriers such as DHL, Fed Ex, UPS and Parcel Force, the average score was 7.7 out of ten, while Royal Mail was given a mark of 7.4.
"Customers are satisfied with the service they receive from their mail providers and that satisfaction is driven by operators' trustworthiness and availability of daily delivery, areas that operators are currently performing well in," the report concluded.
Michael Ross, director at eCommera, told Phil Muncaster from Computing.co.uk that online retailers have a wealth of parcel delivery options available to them.
