Gary Perry, Wolverhampton branch secretary of the Communication Workers Union says the public will be inconvenienced.
Plans by the Royal Mail to close the delivery office on Hall Street in Bilston will harm postal workers and local people, who may use alternative parcel delivery services in the future.
Following a meeting between staff, MPs and councillors, there are growing fears that the outlet will close and be relocated to the Tipton area of the West Midlands, the Express and Star reported.
Gary Perry, Wolverhampton branch secretary of the Communication Workers Union (CWU), told the newspaper that as well as affecting staff, it will be a huge inconvenience for local people, who could turn to Post Office alternatives instead.
"Their post will arrive even later than it already does and residents will have to travel to Tipton to collect items which can't be delivered," he added.
CWU representative Michael Dobbins recently told Worcester News that the closure of the Stourport delivery office would cause huge disruption to members of the public, something which may encourage some to use Post Office alternatives for their parcel delivery needs.
