A new music chart based on social networking has been launched.Music fans wanting to order a parcel delivery of CDs can now look to social media to find out who's hot and who's not. US music chart Billboard has come up with a new way of listing the top artists in the country, and it is not based on sales. The new Social 50 is based around singers' and bands' popularity on networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Artists are ranked on a formula of weekly additions of fans, friends and followers, as well as page view and song plays, as measured by Next Big Sound. As of today (December 3rd) Rihanna tops the brand new chart, which is in its first week, followed by Justin Bieber, Eminem and Lady Gaga. "We continue to adapt the way we chart the changing landscape of music," said Billboard editorial director Bill Werde. "The Social 50 is yet another step in the evolution of Billboard and an important response to our changing times."
