Price comparison sites can help people save money.

Consumers can make significant savings by embracing online retail, it has been claimed.

Chiara Cavaglieri, from the Independent, states that getting the best value for money is as crucial as ever and by following best practice shoppers can benefit hugely.

She advises consumers to use price comparison website when buying goods, with Kelkoo.co.uk and Pricerunner.co.uk both recommended as useful tools.

Ms Cavaglieri also highlights the InvisibleHand tool, which is a plug-in browser which compares prices while people surf the net and works in real time.

"With many retailers changing their prices on a daily basis, this is a big benefit," she says.

Other tips people should keep in mind with online retail is to check for the availability of voucher codes, which can save them even more money on their purchases.

According to research from the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising Search Group, consumers with a high-speed connection are 36.9 per cent more likely to make on an online purchase than those with a slow-speed system.
