Just over a quarter of Australian businesses use social media, a report reveals.
Social media uptake among Australian businesses who use courier delivery services is weak, with just over a quarter regularly making use of Web 2.0 technology, a new report has found.
The Optus Business Social Media Index, released today (September 30th) in association with the Council of Small Business of Australia, shows that 28 per cent of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country use social media, investing an average of 6.6 hours a week to maintain their presence.
Over half (56 per cent) of SMEs do not use social media at all and have no plans to do so in the near future.
A further 16 per cent do plan to start making use of the technology within the next 12 months, though two-thirds of these are unsure of the benefits.
More worryingly for parcel delivery firms in Australia, just 35 per cent of businesses in the country have a website, according to the MYOB business monitor survey, dynamicbusiness.com reported.
