Aussies selling free Go Cards

Aussies selling free Go CardsEnterprising Australians are making a quick buck on eBay.

Entrepreneurial Australians with an eye for making money from a parcel delivery have started selling travel cards on eBay.

The Queensland government gave away free Go Cards - smartcards loaded with AU $10 (£5.80) for use on the state's public transport.

Intended as a way of boosting use of the card and of public transport the scheme was latched onto by a few locals who spied a way of turning a freebie into a money-spinner.

Several of the cards were still on sale when the transport firm Translink reported the situation to eBay, prompting the online marketplace to take the cards down.

However, at least five were sold at face value - usually the buyer would have to pay an additional AU $5 (£2.90.) deposit, but with the free cards this was not necessary, making it a win-win situation for the buyer and the seller.

eBay has thousands of tickets for sale for concerts, sporting events and shows that can be delivered by registered courier delivery - the main plus being that the tickets won't go missing in the post.
