Online retailer has made £4.4 million in pre-tax profits.Online retail firm Asos has reported a rise in first-half profits of nine per cent, with more consumers purchasing clothes via the internet, which may require the use of parcel delivery services such as Parcel2Go.com.The company revealed that the number of active customers on its site rose by 32 per cent year-on-year to 1.2 million at the end of October, helping it make £4.4 million in pre-tax profits.International sales jumped by 112 per cent in the year up to September, while in Britain they increased by 33 per cent.Nick Robertson, chief executive of Asos, said that the internet is the way forward for retailers."Fundamentally, the internet is the retail channel with the greatest potential and Asos is ideally situated to exploit it," he added.Recent statistics from the British Retail Consortium showed that online sales rose by 18 per cent in the year up to October.Written by Laura RathboneArticle Added: 16/11/2009 16:46:28
