Asda reveals online delivery plans

Asda unveils online shopping plansSupermarket chain Asda reveals plans for a dedicated online shopping outlet in London.

Retail outlet Asda has revealed a plan to create another site dedicated to online shopping.

The new store, due to be built in Enfield, London, will be the retailers second store solely for home shopping. It will allow customers to take advantage of home delivery services or to go to the store and pick up items themselves.

Commenting, current president and chief executive officer of Asda Andy Bond said: "Our aim is also to become Britain's favourite retailer across even more channels. That means extending our reach and helping customers order online, pick up in store or let us deliver to their door."

Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats have unveiled policies aimed at helping the UK's elderly which involve the creation of a PostBank service.

The PostBank would act as a collection and delivery point for internet shopping, the party said - and would help people cope with Post Office closures in their area.
