A new social network limited to 50 friends has been launched.

Is having a maximum of 50 online friends the right way to go for social media-savvy parcel delivery and courier services?

In what is being billed as the anti-Facebook, the San Francisco-based Path social network does just that - limits the number of friends anyone may have with the site to 50.

The photo-sharing social network is based on the research of evolutionary psychology professor Robin Dunbar from Oxford University, which indicated that 150 is the maximum number of social relationships that anyone can maintain.

"We know that if you are sharing with a single person you do not trust, you will not feel comfortable sharing. So we've build the personal network model to keep you in control, always," Path creators say in their blog.

One group of people who may treading this new social media path is the baby boom generation, who have been highlighted by a new CBS and USA Today report as being increasingly in tune with Web 2.0 technology.
