Anstey villages hit by post office closure

Post office closureResidents of Antsey in Leicestershire have seen their post office counters close down unexpectedly.

People living in a village in Leicestershire have been forced to look for post office alternatives after the sudden closure of their local branch.

The counters, which are placed inside a local shop, were found closed by customers in Anstey yesterday (August 11th), forcing some to have to consider other options for parcel delivery, reports the Leicester Mercury.

Post office services on the site were run by a temporary postmaster, however they remain closed after the shop's owner asked him to leave.

A statement in the shop window was found to read: "Post Office Ltd have been in discussions with interested parties to move the post office from its current location to the village's empty Alldays shop."

It added the post office will "close until this is resolved".

The village of Great Sampford in Essex faces losing its post office next month, which will see residents having to look for other options for parcel delivery.

Resignation by the local postmaster has led to the post office being earmarked for closure on September 10th, reported the Cambridge Evening News.
